Axial Commons

Privacy policy

Last updated: November 2, 2026.

Axial Commons (axialcommons.org) publishes public-domain readings of the world's oldest books. This page covers the "Axial Commons Night Uploader", a small program we run ourselves to upload our own videos to our own YouTube channel.

What the uploader does

It signs in once, as the owner of the Axial Commons YouTube channel, and uses that permission to upload videos, captions, chapters and thumbnails to that channel. Nobody else signs in to it. It is not offered to the public.

What data it handles

It does not collect, store or read personal data about viewers or any other users. It keeps one sign-in token for the channel owner's account on the owner's own computer, so the owner does not have to sign in each time. The token is never published, shared or sold.

Google user data

Axial Commons' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use the access only to upload and manage our own channel's videos. We do not transfer it to others, use it for advertising, or let people read it.

This website

axialcommons.org is a free library. It does not ask you to create an account. Our host, Cloudflare, may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP address and page requested) for security and reliability.

YouTube API Services

The uploader uses YouTube API Services. By using Axial Commons' YouTube channel you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. The uploader sends our own videos, titles, descriptions, captions and thumbnails to YouTube and receives only the result of each upload. We do not store any other data from YouTube. When the channel owner revokes access (link below), the sign-in token is deleted from our computer and no copy of any Google data remains with us.

Removing access

The channel owner can revoke the uploader's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
